    ATLANTA, GA -- May 30, 2001- Suburban Lodges of America, Inc., (NASDAQ:SLAM) the nation's largest economy extended stay hotel company, announced the opening of a Suburban Lodge hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The new 124-room four-story building is the brand's first hotel featuring their Extel 2001 design, as well as the first Suburban Lodge hotel in the northeast. With the addition of Pennsylvania, Suburban Lodge now operates hotels in 20 states.

    The Suburban Lodge Extel 2001 prototype incorporates all the proven features of an extended-stay hotel, including a complete kitchen in every guestroom. The prototype also adds select features of limited service hotels including options for a night check-in, fitness center, in-house laundry and dishwashing facility and accommodations for audio-visual equipment. This gives owners the ability to cost effectively add or modify features to fit their particular market. Extel 2001 is the most flexible and efficient use of space in the business, said Greg Plank, President of Suburban Lodges.

    The new Suburban Lodge hotel is an interior corridor hotel with brick trim and is located in the North Hills area of Pittsburgh. Rates for a queen room currently start at $279.00 weekly, or $309.00 weekly for larger deluxe rooms. The hotel is located at 4595 McKnight Road.
