    The Rezidor Hotel Group, the Brussels-based hotel management company, announces the opening of its latest South African property: the Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.

    The landmark development in Johannesburg's exclusive Sandton Isle, the Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton brings Rezidor's trademark high design and fine dining to the heart of South Africa's largest city.

    The 290-key hotel features Italian fine dining restaurant Vivace from award-winning chef Paul Gindra, an outdoor swimming pool and sundeck on its 9th floor, a multi-story atrium overlooking the wine bar and lounge, and a 53,000-square-foot sp and fitness center from ONEwellness Spa and Platinum Fitness, including an indoor/outdoor jogging course that snakes in and out of the hotel's public areas.

    All guestrooms offer flat-screen LCD televisions and complimentary high-speed wireless internet access. The hotel will also offer eight on-site meeting rooms, some of which open to terraces featuring panoramic city views.

    Situated in the heart of Sandton's business and financial district, the Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton is located 18 miles from Johannesburg's international airport. The hotel is within walking distance of Nelson Mandela Square, the Sandton shopping center and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

    The latest in Rezidor's South African development focus, the Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton joins the recently opened Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, Cape Town, a 177-room oceanfront hotel. Upcoming developments in South Africa include the Radisson Blu Hotel, Port Elizabeth (2009), the Radisson Blu Hotel Blaauwberg, Cape Town (2010), and another Johannesburg development, the Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton Central (2010).

    Additional African developments scheduled to open in 2009 include properties in Djerba, Tunisia, Alexandria, Egypt, Dakar, Senegal, Bamako, Mali, Lagos, Nigeria, Tripoli, Libya, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
