Fabtex facilities in Danville, PA, Lumberton, NC and Orange, CA have achieved Green Office Certification from GreenLine Paper. This certification is offered to organizations that meet environment-friendly criteria including the use of recycled and energy-efficient products, the wise use of energy and proactive recycling practices.
'We are pleased to have received this certification as part of our broader ongoing efforts to refine and improve our processes to become a more environmentally conscious company,' said Brian Coughlin, Vice President of Fabtex. 'We owe significant recognition to our employees who have become involved with this program and continue to look for and suggest additional ways to improve our practices and reduce our footprint.'
As a company, Fabtex recognizes the importance of environmental sustainability and encourages good stewardship practices. For example, nearly all Fabtex decorative fabrics are produced in North American plants close to their fabrication facilities, as well as end users, ensuring both good labor practices and energy savings in shipping and delivery.
To determine their eligibility for certification, Fabtex was required to demonstrate its environmentally conscious practices regarding energy use, building construction, office supplies, waste reduction/recycling and transportation.
Some of the criteria include the following:
• Product recycling
• Use of energy efficient lighting
• Use of energy star rated office equipment
• Efforts to cut down paper use
• Use of non toxic eco friendly cleaning products
• Use of recycled toner ink cartridges
• Provide parking for bicycles
• Use of recycled content napkins, paper towels, etc.
Fabtex, along with its employees, is continuing to expand its environmental efforts and is currently developing the following initiatives:
• Use of recyclable packaging materials and reducing materials used.
• Returning plastic thread cores to manufacturer for recycling.
• Donating scrap wood to local boy scouts for projects.
• Recycling scrap aluminum from manufacturing.
• Recycling scrap fabrics from manufacturing.
• Collecting used cell phones that an employee sends to his native Guatemala for use.
