Kempinski on Ice! |
|
|
December 14, 2001. Kempinski Hotel Taschenbergpalais, a member of
Leading Hotels of the World, has opened an exclusive 600 m² ice rink
within its Baroque inner courtyard, transforming the five star hotel
into a magical winter wonderland. The ice rink is open daily from 4 -
10 pm until March 15 2002, with extended weekend opening from 11 am -
10 pm. Entrance for unlimited skating time costs £3 per person
(weekdays) and £5 at weekends, with a 50% reduction for children under
12 years. Glühwein, hot drinks and traditional German snacks are
served in a log cabin while live music plays and candles light up the
courtyard.
Overlooking Dresden landmarks such as the Semper Opera House, the
Zwinger and the former royal palace, the Taschenbergpalais was
painstakingly reconstructed as a deluxe hotel, reopening in 1995. It
was originally built in the early 18th Century by August the Strong
for his mistress, Countess Anna Constanze von Cosel, but was destroyed
during World War II.
Until February 28 2002, take advantage of Kempinski's Winter Interlude
programme, which offers rooms at the Kempinski Hotel Taschenbergpalais
from just EUR 142.65 (approx. £90) per night, on a room only basis,
subject to availability.
Fly to Dresden with Lufthansa (0845 773 7747) from London via Munich,
from just £188.50 including all taxes.
