  • Training Unlimited International Hospitality Training & Island Training Unlimited announce a new service for tourism companies: Safari Validation: 'Does it work on a Mac?'

    What is this new service?

    • Safari Validation is where we review, navigate and test your email advertising piece, digital brochure, website, etc., on a Mac through Safari 4 & Firefox 3, just as your targeted audience - the end-user - would do, ensuring that your site works as intended.

    • We then provide you with a report of the outcomes needing attention, which you in turn, share with your web designers, programmers, etc., to make the appropriate changes.

Validation: "is the process of checking if something satisfies a certain criterion. (E.g., If a computer system is secure, or if computer data are compliant with an open standard). Validation implies one is able to document that a solution or process is correct or is suited for its intended use." Wikipedia

What is the benefit to a business in using this service?

    The statistics:

    • Safari 4 had 11 million copies downloaded in the first three days of its release (see our website for all references); a phenomenal piece of the market that you want to ensure can read and use your website to the fullest!

    • According to TUAW, Apple's share of the market has passed 10%, while Windows has decreased.

    • The Loop shares that Apple now captures 91% of market for computers over $1,000.

We have noticed that on occasion, various hospitality and tourism sites have a glitch or two when viewed with Safari, and most times, the company is not aware of it. Our service is designed to give you that final piece of confirmation that your site is working as intended.

Being seasoned hospitality trainers and mystery shoppers, we have an eye for detail and as a bonus, we will share any additional spelling, formatting, etc., that we come across. It is a bit like having someone else proofread your own work, someone who 'did not know what was supposed to happen', therefore saw things that may have been missed otherwise!

What type of glitches have you found?

    • We have found glitches such as a slide show that did not function perfectly, or a web link that did not reach its intended destination, etc., little things that may not be obvious and be missed.

    • It can mean that your creative advertising and web design efforts miss a huge piece of the market you meant to, and thought that you were including.

When do we use your service?

    • We are happy to look at your site at any stage of your design process. Our focus is that you have done the work on your site and it is just about ready for publication, we review your final draft to ensure that you are aware of any glitches, and that your team can fix it before any potential guests/visitors experience any challenges.

    • This service can be provided for existing sites as well.

    How much time is involved?

    • The answer depends upon the extensiveness of your advertising piece, website, etc. Most smaller pieces and sites can be done within an hour or two.

By taking that one-extra validation step, you have confirmed that your site works as intended, on a Mac with Safari 4 and Firefox 3, ensuring that your potential guests/visitors can review and use your marketing activities as intended.

Hospitality Training and Island Training Unlimited have introduced Safari Validation: 'Does it work on a Mac?' as a new service to assist tourism companies in meeting the needs of Mac users throughout the world!
