Hotwire.com announced their newest tool to save customers money: The Hotwire(R) Canadian Hotel Rate Report. The report, which will be published monthly, features the top 10 cities with the largest reductions in hotel prices in Canada.

These price drops, combined with Hotwire's already discounted prices, help guide customers to the destinations that will allow them to stretch their travel dollar. Hotwire is able to find great deals because it works with hotels, airlines and car rental companies to fill unsold inventory, which means that customers will find deals that they won't see anywhere else.

Like the North American Hotel Rate Report, the Canadian Hotwire Hotel Rate Report gives consumers up-to-date information on the Canadian cities with the best hotel deals of the month. The report is generated through a comparison of pricing trends from the previous year in the top markets, and factors in month-by-month price fluctuations. The report then highlights the cities that have the biggest hotel price drops each month.

Many popular destinations are seeing price declines this summer. Quebec City and Victoria top the August Canadian Hotel Rate Report with a 21 percent drop. The other cities rounding out the top five are also located in the western region of the Canada, including Vancouver, Whistler and Banff (percent drops of 20, 18 and 17, respectively). August has seen many resort destinations, particularly those in BC drop significantly in price, making this a great time to take advantage of deals in these markets for those consumers looking to take one last summer vacation.

'Hotwire is excited to bring the Hotel Rate Report to Canada,' said Clem Bason, President of the Hotwire Group. 'The Hotwire Hotel Rate Report is part of our commitment to provide the tools that Canadian customers need to find the best and most discounted travel deals available.'

About the Hotwire Hotel Rate Report
The Hotwire Hotel Rate Report will run results during the first week of each month. Results are calculated by looking at Hotwire stay dates for select regions in the current month, and comparing prices in the current month against Hotwire prices in the same month in the prior year. Prices are compared within the same star rating categories for consistency, and the percent change in price for each region is generated as an overall average of the changes in those categories. The prices in the chart above are examples for a particular star rating category within that market, and actual prices may be higher or lower than the example that is provided.
