260-room Ramada Plaza-North near Los Angeles’ airport installs ARESCOM’s High Speed Internet Access solutions to fuel its goal of tripling bookings with business travelers
FREMONT, CALIF. — OCT. 30, 2002 — In today’s economy, or any economy, there’s nothing quite like an ROI equation with zero on the “I” side of the equation and enormous potential “R” — and that’s exactly what High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) provider ARESCOM INC. delivers to hotels, according to Vic Juardo, Front Office Manager of the 260-room Ramada Plaza – North in Culver City, Calif.
Located just a few miles from the Los Angeles airport, the Ramada Plaza – North is one of dozens of hotels in the past few months to receive ARESCOM’s HSIA solutions and ongoing maintenance and support free of charge — with online guest billing, around the clock customer support and revenue sharing included. ARESCOM, a global provider of HSIA equipment and related services for the hospitality, residential property, telecommunication and ISP markets, is on a roll with roll-outs and could reach its goal of 1,000 business-class hotel clients before the close of 2003. In fact, if installations continue as scheduled, ARESCOM will lead the hotel HSIA market by mid-2003 — just one year after entering the service side of the HSIA technology sector.
Competitive edge
Dave Egan, ARESCOM VP – Marketing, said the company’s low-cost provider position as a global manufacturer of HSIA equipment empowers the Fremont-based company to offer hotel owners and operators a risk-free, cost-free business model proven to boost guest satisfaction, loyalty and repeat business and referrals, along with occupancy, average daily rates and revenue per available room.
“Our predecessors that offered High Speed Internet Access revenue share models basically were service companies trying but failing to branch out into new technology,” Egan said. “We’re a technology company that has branched into a service area closely intertwined with the very products we have manufactured for years. What this means to hotels is that ARESCOM is best positioned to deliver HSIA free to operators because our equipment has no intermediate pricing mark-ups and our technicians are adept at integrating and supporting the High Speed Internet Access solutions we designed and manufactured.”
“We offer hotel operators a substantial competitive edge, with zero risk to the bottom line and proven upside for guests, property owners and employees alike. We’re in the hospitality market for the long haul and have the financial strength, technology and critical human resources and strategic partners to help each of our hotel clients fully leverage HSIA amenities to survive and thrive in today’s tough times.”
HSIA ROI
John Valladao, Controller for the Ramada Plaza – North, said the deployment of ARESCOM’s HSIA will be instrumental in the company’s ongoing conversion to a business traveler-oriented lodging property.
“Business travelers and corporate accounts traditionally account for just about 20 percent of our revenues,” Valladao. “But ARESCOM has helped us turn a potential negative into a big positive by enabling us to install and maintain HSIA at no charge to us, while sharing related usage revenues.”
“We have high hopes that ARESCOM’s High Speed Internet Access will kick-start our goal of tripling our base of business/corporate accounts to 60 percent of our business,” he said. “Given our close proximity to the Los Angeles’ airport, there’s little doubt that not having HSIA was our Achilles’ heel. Now we have High Speed Internet Access, paid nothing to install or maintain it, and are beginning to see the fruits of ARESCOM’s investment.”
Valladao said the property researched several HSIA providers, but none could measure up to ARESCOM’s technology platform and proven support — not to mention its risk-free, cost-free HSIA business model.
“About a year-and-a-half ago, we had High Speed Internet Access — but our provider didn’t have the right technology, business model or adequate technical support and four months later they exited the market and our property and our guests were left in the dark,” Valladao said. “It’s so good to be back in the HSIA game, but this time with a proven provider who will be our revenue share partner for years to come.”
“Before teaming with ARESCOM, we used to receive several inquiries a day asking whether we had High Speed Internet Access,” he said. “We replied ‘No,’ and in more cases than not, found ourselves being asked the name and telephone number of nearby competitors with High Speed Internet Access. Today, I’m happy to say, we’re able to turn these High Speed Internet Access inquiries into new business — instead of turning business over to the competition.”
About ARESCOM
Founded in the Silicon Valley, in 1996, ARESCOM designs, manufactures and markets a comprehensive line of broadband access solutions, ranging from the most sophisticated turnkey wired and wireless High Speed Internet Access solutions for the booming worldwide hospitality market, to state-of-the-art DSL and wireless solutions for homes and small businesses. Currently, ARESCOM’s DSL broadband access equipment is widely deployed by major telecommunication carriers, REITs, Hotels, ISPs and SOHOs throughout the U.S., Asia and Europe. The ARESCOM Hospitality Network plans to deploy ARESCOM’s proven wired and wireless HSIA, as well as CineMagic Video-on-Demand and Voice over Internet Protocol solutions, in more than 1,000 business-class hotels across the nation by the close of 2003. A recent study found that 92 percent of business travelers base their lodging choices on fast and easy Internet access. While 73 percent of hotels said they plan to install HSIA, less than 10 percent have done so to date — largely due to business models requiring hotels to invest tens of thousands of dollars and some vendors’ poor technical support. Because ARESCOM alone designs and manufactures its own HSIA equipment and installs and supports it 24/7/365 free to hotel owner/operators, the company is fast becoming the HSIA supplier of choice in hospitality.
