JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 14, 2002) - The 72-unit Quality Suites Oceanfront, located at 11 N. 1st Street in the heart of downtown Jacksonville Beach and right on the ocean, is hosting a grand opening on Thursday, Nov. 21 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The grand opening features an Hawaiian-style Luau, Polynesian Show, fire dancer, site tours and fun prizes. A ribbon cutting is at 6 p.m. Jacksonville Beach Mayor Bob Marsden, City Manager George Forbes, business leaders and representatives of Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH), franchisor of the Quality hotel brand, are expected to attend. City Manager George Forbes will speak on Jacksonville Beach redevelopment. (Members of the media are invited to attend).
The Quality Suites Oceanfront, which cost $7.2 million and took two years to build, features 72 oceanfront two-room suites with king or two queen-size beds and private balconies. Each suite has two remote-control 27-inch cable TVs with expanded cable and HBO, microwave, refrigerator, dry bar, telephone with data port and high-speed internet access, coffee maker, iron, ironing board and hairdryer. Eleven suites have an in-room whirlpool tub. Adjoining rooms and rooms for individuals with disabilities are available. The Quality Suites Oceanfront is a 100 percent non-smoking hotel. ? All guestrooms and public areas are smoke free.
Hotel features at the Quality Suites Oceanfront include an outdoor heated pool and spa; fitness center; business center with computer with high-speed internet access, printer, photocopier and fax machine; gift shop; guest laundry and valet cleaning service. The hotel has 1,600 square feet of meeting/banquet space, consisting of two meeting rooms that can accommodate from 10 to 70 people. Meeting rooms are oceanfront with access to the beach. Rates begin at $159 for the fall/winter season and at $179 for the spring/summer season. Whirlpool rooms are usually $20 more. Children, ages 18 and under, stay free in the room of parents and grandparents.
Discounts are available when booked in advance on a space-available basis for senior citizens, AAA members, business travelers, government/military personnel and groups.
