SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 22, 2002--The Handlery Hotel & Resort in Mission Valley has named a hospitality industry veteran, with some 22 years of experience, as the property's new general manager.
John M. Martin joins the Handlery after serving most recently as Vice President of Operations for the Chesapeake Hotel Group based in Annapolis, Md., with overall accountability for the Group's six full- and limited-service hotels.
Just before that, Martin was general manager of the Hotel Allegro, part of the Kimpton Group in Chicago.
At the Handlery, Martin will be responsible for every aspect of daily operations and guest services, including the Postcards American Bistro restaurant, which serves American Continental cuisine, plus a few unexpected treats, in an airy, modern setting.
I am personally excited about having John in the Handlery family, said Jon Handlery, senior vice president and general manager of Handlery Hotels, Inc. With his extensive hotel management background, John is uniquely qualified to manage a diverse staff in meeting the needs of a diverse clientele.
At the Handlery, we receive guests from around the world, plus clients who are local area residents, he added. We must be ready and able to meet all requests, and John's addition enhances that vital ability.
Located in San Diego's Mission Valley, the Handlery's 217 guest rooms and five one-bedroom suites are just steps from first-class shopping at the Mission and Valley Fashion malls right next door. Guests also can hop on the trolley for a quick ride to some of the area's most popular destinations, including Sea World, picturesque Old Town and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.
In addition, adjoining the hotel grounds is the 27-hole Riverwalk Championship Golf Course and Driving range.
