WASHINGTON, D.C., December 10, 2002—The Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality, Inc. (NEWH) will close out its 2002 fundraising year on January 9 when the organization hosts its Holiday Award and Scholarship Gala from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Washington Terrace Hotel. The event was rescheduled from December 5, 2002, to January 9, 2003, as a result of record snowfall in the DC area on December 5.
More than 100 hospitality executives in the region’s hospitality industry and their guests are expected to attend the event. Attendees will have an opportunity to bid on more than 45 items at a silent auction held during the evening to raise money for the group’s scholarship fund. Auction items include Venetian glass jewelry, hotel stays, original artwork, area rugs and decorating accessories, like lamps, throw pillows and wall sconces.
At the event, the organization will present its Joyce J. Johnson Woman of Excellence Award and scholarships to students who seek a career in hospitality. Tickets are $95 for non-members and $70 for members. Tickets may be purchased by contacting NEWH volunteer Tina Hobbs at (410) 877-3217.
NEWH is an international, non-profit organization dedicated to education and is chartered to provide scholarships for women pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. The Washington Chapter of NEWH was founded in 1990 and funds more than 10 scholarships annually.
