36 Tons of Rare Limestone Mined from Oman Desert for Atrium Floor; Inn to Close Dec. 15-26 Spa, Golf, Four Restaurants Stay Open
Chateau Elan Winery & Resort is spending $3 million to enhance its Four Diamond, Four Star conference and resort destination property.
This follows an initial $2 million remodeling on its Spa mansion just five months ago. The new look at Chateau Elan evolves from a traditional to a classy, elegant, more contemporary look.
Included in the comprehensive renovation program is the major task of removing and replacing 18,000 square feet of Atrium flooring at the Inn. The new flooring is a rare form of limestone mined in the desert of the Sultanate of Oman (Arabian Peninsula), then specially fabricated into tiles in Sicily before being shipped (36 tons) here. This particular strain of limestone, only available for the past three years, defies the traditional makeup of limestone. Specifications reveal it is non porous, as durable as granite, comes in more distinctive colors and is slip resistant. The limestone will be laid in patterns of honed as well as polished tiles providing a simple, timeless and elegant look for years to come.
In order to spare guests the noise emanating from the Atrium remodeling program, the Inn's 276 guest rooms will be closed from Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m., December 15 and reopen on Friday, December 27. The Versailles restaurant, Conference Center and Atrium will be closed from December 15 and reopen on Sunday, January 5. All other amenities at the resort will remain open including the Spa Mansion with 14 suites, the twelve, 2,3 and 4 bedroom Golf Villas, the Winery with its Cafe Elan, wine tours and tastings, The Golf Club grille, Chateau and Woodlands golf courses, the tennis center and Paddy's Irish Pub.
New carpeting, soft goods and additional telephone lines for the Inn rooms are nearly completed. All Atrium furnishings are also being reupholstered.
A complete soft goods renovation of the 25,000 square foot Conference Center, including draperies for its meeting rooms and ballrooms is on the work agenda. Fabrics will be rich, semi sheer and with subtle, natural tones.
Henk Evers, President & CEO of Chateau Elan Hotels & Resorts stated, With this renovation and revitalization program we will continue to enhance Chateau Elan, its amenities, physical attributes, and services with a fresh and inviting look contributing to our conference and leisure guests' comfort, productivity and enjoyment.
