The company, which is keen to expand its presence in India, beyond its existing joint venture with real estate major DLF, is also believed to have sought permission to either invest or acquire stake in other Indian hospitality firms.

"Hilton has sought an approval to operate in India across all its brands. It will look at different prospective partners for bringing its different brands into the country," a company source said.

According to official sources, Hilton International Co has sought an approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to allow it to bring forward more brands such as Doubletree and Hampton by Hilton, Waldorf Astoria and Conrad.
