Howard Johnson Opens 50th Hotel In Canada |
|
(HRN) Toronto, ON – Howard Johnson Franchise Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of Toronto-based AFM Hospitality Corporation (TSX:AFM), today announced an agreement with CHIP Hospitality to convert the Imperial 400 Inn in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to a Howard Johnson Inn, marking the 50th franchised property to join the established and fast-growing brand in Canada.. |
“Reaching our 50th Canadian location is truly a milestone for the Howard Johnson brand,” said Kristy Adams, President of Howard Johnson Franchise Canada. “I’m very proud to announce Howard Johnson is now one of the top ten hotel brands in Canada, and our rapid growth is further testimony to our ability to help our franchisees build better businesses.
“I’m also exceptionally proud of our continued and growing relationship with CHIP Hospitality, one of Canada’s leading hotel and resort management companies,” Ms. Adams continued. “The trust and confidence displayed by CHIP Hospitality in the Howard Johnson brand is clearly an outgrowth of our commitment to providing the best possible franchise support, marketing and operational services to our franchisees.”
The agreement follows the recent re-entry of the Howard Johnson brand into the province with the Howard Johnson Inn in Saskatoon and the Howard Johnson Inn in Regina.
“The re-branding of the Imperial 400 in Prince Albert as a Howard Johnson represents another significant investment for CHIP Hospitality in Saskatchewan,” said CHIP Hospitality President Minaz Abji. “With the renovation, the new Howard Johnson Prince Albert will offer an excellent brand for the business traveller, sports groups and families.”
Upon completion of renovations taking place, the hotel will offer in-room movies as well as business-class rooms that include dataports and cordless phones. The hotel currently offers a waterslide, indoor pool and hot tub complex, fully licensed restaurant and lounge and is conveniently close to shopping.
“We are excited to add our 50th addition to the Canadian Howard Johnson family,” said Glen Blake, Executive Vice President of AFM Hospitality Corporation and President of AFM’s Franchise Division. “The Howard Johnson Inn in Prince Albert is a perfect fit for this landmark achievement.”
Mr. Blake also noted “this agreement further establishes that we are closer to achieving our goal of 150 Howard Johnson properties across Canada by 2005.”
