Shawn Goodway, 30 Year Industry Veteran, Named General Manager Of The Saratoga Hilton

Hilton Hotels announced the appointment of Shawn Goodway to general manager of The Saratoga Hilton in Saratoga Springs, New York, effective immediately. A 30-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Goodway brings to this role a wealth of experience in various facets of hotel operations, including finance, accounting, information technology, guest relations, and hotel openings and conversions.

"Shawn's familiarity with the region bodes well for us because he understands the dynamics of this growing tourist destination," said Ted Ratcliff, senior vice president, operations, eastern North America, Hilton Worldwide. "With the start of the 2010 racing season now just days away, high season is about to gallop into high gear. It"s the perfect time for Shawn to take the Œreins" at this landmark Hilton property."

In his new position, Goodway will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations at the 242-room full-service hotel, which is ideally situated near the famous Saratoga Race Course, Saratoga Performing Arts Center and Saratoga National Historical Park. Goodway has extensive knowledge of the upstate New York market, including the Saratoga Springs area, having spent his entire hospitality career in one of the state"s fastest growing counties.

"The hotel's key location in the heart of downtown, which offers a variety of shops, restaurants and bars all within walking distance, is a major draw for both the business and leisure traveler. Throughout the year, the hotel hosts many diverse groups and events, both large and small, which help drive business to the city"s downtown core," added Ratcliff.
Goodway"s promotion to general manager comes on the heels of a successful two years at The Saratoga Hilton as director of finance. During that time, Goodway was responsible for budgeting, forecasting and all accounting functions at the hotel. Prior to his arrival at The Saratoga Hilton, Goodway spent three years as general manager of the historic Gideon Putnam Resort & Spa, located in the heart of Saratoga Spa State Park. He previously held controller, IT manager and night auditor positions during an accomplished ten-year tenure with the resort.

Goodway attended Empire State College in Saratoga Springs and Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y. He resides in Saratoga County with his three children.
