InterContinental Hotels Group PLC, the operator of InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels, reported Tuesday a profit for the second quarter thanks to a pickup in business travel and growth in the Chinese market. Intercontinental posted a net profit of $87 million for the three months to June 30 -- compared with a loss of $56 million a year ago. Revenue at the company, which runs more than 650,000 rooms in over 4,500 hotels worldwide, rose 9.3 percent to $410 million from $375 million.
