Hawthorn Suties Recognized Top Hotels And Franchisees Of 2002 |
|
ATLANTA (Feb. 21, 2003) Hawthorn Suites has recognized its top hotels for
2002 including Hotel of the Year and Franchisee of the year. The awards
were presented during the U.S. Franchise Systems, Inc. (USFS) Franchise
Conference in Atlanta. USFS is the parent company of the franchisor of the
Microtel hotel brand. |
Franchisee of the Year
K Partners owns the three Hawthorn properties in Texas and was honored as the brand's Franchisee of the Year. K Partners owns the Hawthorn Suites LTD. In Lubbock, the Hawthorn Suites LTD. in Aransas Pass and the Hawthorn Inn & Suites in San Angelo. All three properties have averaged a quality score of 495 or better and focus on outstanding service and quality for the guest. K Partners is a strong supporter of the Hawthorn brand and takes every opportunity to work with other Hawthorn properties and takes advantage of franchisee training programs and support services.
Hotel of the Year
The Hawthorn Suites Golf and Convention Resort in Ruidoso, New Mexico
received the Hotel of the Year award from the brand. The resort has been
open since June 2001 and demonstrate the kind of attention to detail that
only the best management can provide. The property owners, Leisure Hotels, are an active participant in all franchise events for the brands as well as an active member of the community. The resort and staff have supported
fundraising events for Rotary International, the Ruidoso Festival of Light,
the Chamber of Commerce, local high school work-study programs and more.
The property boasts a near perfect Quality Assurance score and increased
their market share over the past year.
General Manager of the Year
The brand awarded Bryan Thompson, from the Hawthorn Suites in Alexandria, Virginia as the General Manager of the Year. His hard work and
determination enabled Bryan to rise from front desk clerk in 1989 to general
manager. He currently acts as both general manager and director of sales
for the hotel and has been able to achieve a near perfect quality score for
the hotel as well has increase its bottom line. The hotel's low turn-over
rate is another testament to his skills as a manager.
Sales Person of the Year
Melissa Masitto, Director of Sales from the Hawthorn Suites Atlanta, NW, was
honored with the Sales Person of the Year Award from the brand. During a
year when the hotel was undergoing renovations, Masitto was able to grow her top accounts and increase occupancy. She is known for her leadership and attitude of doing whatever it takes to achieve 100% guest satisfaction.
Newcomer's Award
The Newcomer's Award was presented to the Hawthorn Suites in Milpitas,
California. The 4-story, 90-suite hotel is owned by Herman Lin. The
property is located in the heart of Silicon Valley and is designed to meet
guest's short term and extended stay needs.
An additional 53 Hawthorn properties received Quality Excellence Awards for receiving a 99 percent perfect score on their quality assurance
inspections.
