|
Cergy Pontoise/Paris, France, 4 March 2003 – Disneyland Resort Paris has awarded two scholarships to students on the IMHI two year MBA programme in International Hospitality Management. The awards, covering 50% of tuition fees and worth over 20,000 euros, are offered each year as part of a three year joint partnership agreement between IMHI (Institut de Management Hotelier International, a joint programme of Cornell University and ESSEC) and Disneyland Resort Paris. |
“We are happy once again to be financially supporting two deserving IMHI students through these awards” said Yann Caillère, Senior Vice-President Operations. “We have full confidence in their capacity to pursue challenging studies and have successful careers. Our partnership agreement with IMHI, now in its second year, also underlines our confidence in this institution, which is for us a reference in high-level education in the hospitality and leisure industry”.
The partnership agreement between Disneyland Resort Paris and IMHI not only includes internships, apprenticeships and other student-oriented projects, but also the participation of Disneyland Resort executives in specific educational and research activities. Disneyland Resort Paris is involved in events organised to assist students in career planning, job development and employment.
“Being granted a Disneyland scholarship is one of the best chances I ever had in my life. It has reinforced my determination to succeed in my academic experience at IMHI, and to take out the best from it I can” commented Céline Khoury, 21 years old, from Lebanon.
Sumit Kapur, 28 years old, from India, the other scholarship winner added, “Winning this Scholarship was like a dream come true. This scholarship means a lot to me - not only does it provide financial help, but also gives me further resolve to do well in my studies. I feel privileged to be associated with Disney.”
Launched in 1981, IMHI offers an MBA in International Hospitality Management. The 18-month study programme prepares future leaders for the hospitality industry. Students of more than 20 nationalities are attracted to the internationally focused programme each year, and IMHI’s extensive alumni network now covers over 55 countries. Entry requirements include bachelor’s degree education, fluency in English and prior professional experience in the hotel, restaurant or tourism industries.
IMHI is jointly operated by Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and ESSEC. Cornell University is an acknowledged leader in hospitality education. ESSEC, a private business school (established in 1901), is consistently ranked first or second in leading surveys of higher education in France. It is accredited by the AACSB – the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business.
