ATLANTA, March 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Six Continents Hotels, Inc. (NYSE:SXC) , owners of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites brands, today announced it is broadening the company's current government rate program to encompass military personnel's family members. This special offer is effective immediately through August 31, 2003, and is available at hotels where the government rate is currently available - across all Six Continents brands -- in the continental U.S.
Six Continents has approximately 2,000 U.S. hotels currently offering the government rate. The government rate is established based on the per diem guidelines, and varies according to property and location. Normally, the government rate is available only for active military personnel, but can now be accessed by their immediate family as well.
"Military families have enough stress during this time, and we would like to help alleviate potential financial constraints and enable them to visit a loved one before deployment or while on leave if given the opportunity," said Stevan Porter, president of Six Continents Hotels -- Americas. "Hopefully by extending the rate, we are giving families another chance to remain close during this crisis, as well as show our support for our military."
To take advantage of this offer, family members and military personnel are required to show current military identification or official orders upon check-in. Interested travelers can reserve rooms through a variety of channels, such as by calling 1-866-655-4644, a dedicated toll free number, visiting www.6c.com/militaryfamily, or by calling the hotel directly.
The government rate may be limited and subject to blackout dates or high- demand periods as determined by independent hotel operators.
