Jonathan Benjamin Promoted To Vice President Of Franchise Sales

  • USFS ATLANTA (May 13, 2003) -- U.S. Franchise Systems has promoted Jonathan Benjamin to Vice President, Franchise Sales. In his new position, Benjamin will be responsible for overseeing the sales and development of Hawthorn Suites and Best Inns franchises throughout the Southeastern region.

    He will report directly to Tim Muir, Senior Vice President Franchise Sales.

    "Jonathan's experience and professionalism have enabled him to consistently be one of the company's top producing salespeople for the last five years," says Muir. "We are very confident in his ability to continue to grow the Hawthorn Suites and Best Inns brands throughout the Southeast."

    Benjamin has been an integral part of the USFS sales team since 1998. Since joining the company, he has been acknowledged with numerous sales awards including the USFS All-Star team, Best Inn's Salesperson of the Year in 2000, and USFS Salesperson of the Year 2002. Benjamin previously served as regional director of franchise sales and development for Microtel Inns & Suites on the West Coast.

    Benjamin will relocate from Phoenix to Atlanta in the near future with his wife Missy and children, Sedona and Michael. Benjamin holds a B.S. in finance from Arizona State University as well as a J.D. from Whittier Law School in Los Angeles, CA.

    Hawthorn brand hotels are upscale properties designed for the extended-stay traveler and consist of Hawthorn Suites, Hawthorn Suites LTD., Hawthorn Hotel & Suites, and Hawthorn Suites Golf Resorts. Atlanta-based U.S. Franchise Systems, Inc. acquired the franchise rights to the Hawthorn brand in 1996 and full ownership in 1998. As of March 31 2003, there were 120 Hawthorn branded hotels open or under construction worldwide.

    Atlanta-based USFS was founded in 1995 by industry veteran Mike Leven. The company franchises the Microtel Inns & Suites, Hawthorn Suites, and Best Inns hotel brands. As of December 31, 2002, there were 508 USFS branded properties open or under construction in 48 states and eight countries around the globe.
