Dallas, July 11, 2002: The Managing Director of The Chester Grosvenor, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World's elite consortium, has been awarded the 'Oscar' of the hotel industry - the prestigious 'Manager of the Year' Catey award.
Jonathan Slater, who has managed The Chester Grosvenor for nearly 20 years, was given the accolade by a distinguished panel of judges, who praised him for his professionalism, success in managing and developing a loyal team of colleagues, and passion for the hotel business.
The Chester Grosvenor itself was described as the leading hotel in the North of England and an icon of hospitality. One of the judges commented, Good people stay with Jonathan Slater - it's testament to the time he invests in his team.
In addition to managing the five-star, 83-bedroom hotel, Jonathan Slater also finds time for his role as chairman of Chester and Cheshire Conference Desk Ltd., he is a director on the SLH board, and promotes Chester and the North West on a number of sales missions to the US and Far East each year.
Mr. Slater says he is delighted to have received the award. To be recognized amongst your peers is a great honor, and I'm especially pleased for my family and for the extended family of colleagues at the hotel, many of whom have been with me through the last two decades.
