Set top box-free solution enables hotels to future proof their in-room entertainment
Leading Asia-based hotel technology provider MVI Systems Ltd has made its widely deployed IPTV in-room infotainment solution available for Smart TVs.
MVI’s SmartTV Solution is designed for hotels that choose to invest in SmartTVs for their properties but don’t want to compromise on the extensive hospitality features MVI offers for traditional TV plus set top box (STB) deployments.
The solution is powered by MVI’s next generation IPTV middleware enabling a seamless user experience that is balanced with hotels’ unique requirements for branding, workflow and revenue management. MVI's middleware supports multi-vendor Smart TVs as well as Blueray players, and of course traditional STBs.
Hotel guests can enjoy easy access to hotel-specific services such as TV and VoD, folio review, room service, facility guide and other information services through a branded app located on the Smart TV menu, while at the same time enjoying the Smart TV features such as games and social networking.
MVI’s popular Second Screen solution, which converts a guest’s tablet into a multimedia entertainment hub, can also be integrated on the Smart TV platform.
“While the widespread adoption of Smart TVs is only just starting, eventually all TV sets will be connected,” said Anke Gill, Head of Marketing at MVI Systems. “It is important to provide hotels with a solution that remains technologically relevant for the foreseeable future, so extending our in-room entertainment solution to Smart TVs was a logical step for us.”
MVI’s next generation IPTV in-room entertainment system has been installed by hotels across Asia, including the Hotel ICON Hong Kong, Island Shangri-la Hong Kong, Lanson Place Hong Kong, W Hotel Sentosa, Mandarin Orchard Singapore, Fullerton and Fullerton Bay Hotels Singapore and many others, in conjunction with MVI’s local partners.
