Revenue per available room down 0.6% to CAD$79.69
Canada’s hotel industry reported little movement in the three key performance metrics for the week of 7-13 October 2012, according to data from STR.
In year-over-year measurements, the country’s hotel occupancy ended the week virtually flat with a 0.1-percent decrease to 62.9 percent; it’s average daily rate ticked up by 0.7 percent to CAD$126.66; and its revenue per available room experienced a 0.6-percent increase to CAD$79.69.
Prince Edward Island recorded the largest increases in occupancy and RevPAR among the country’s provinces. Occupancy for the week increased 18.9 percent to 60.3 percent, while RevPAR rose 20.2 percent to CAD$54.43.
Alberta achieved the largest gain in ADR, rising 5.0 percent to CAD$135.02.
Quebec experienced the largest decreases in all three performance metrics for the week. The province’s occupancy fell 6.2 percent to 68.6 percent; its ADR declined 2.1 percent to CAD$143.79; and its RevPAR dropped 8.2 percent to CAD$98.62.
