  • LRA Worldwide I am tired of hunkering down. The most recent blizzard here in the Northeast, gamely called Nemo, just about broke the spirit of New England. Enough already!

Why, we could be on a cruise in the Gulf of Mexico.  Hold it, though, what about that cruiser which is being towed to port?  What a nasty experience that is turning into – sanitation and dining options severely limited.  At least it is sunny and warm.

Maybe a short visit to the Gold Coast of  Mississippi?  However, the news almost every night shows those thunderstorm and cyclone cells, briskly marching across the Southern states.  Thank goodness Super Bowl madness in New Orleans was a wonderful success!

Well, we could always go skiing at Big Bear in California.  That plan goes on hold after watching the police drama unfold and the unfortunate legend of one of the cabins engulfed in fire.  We assume it is safe now, less one rental.

The next thirty days really drag out the winter with March just that extra pull on the will and the spirit.  We need the snow, for that affects our water tables for the summer.  The daylight is growing longer, minute by minute.  Valentine’s Day and the NCAA tourney are in the wings.  World events are always whirling – a new Pope, watching President Obama’s visions unfold, the Arab Spring continues, North Korea still provocative and thank goodness for ice hockey with nearly a game a night due to the truncated season.  Let’s not forget baseball’s Spring Training – always a sublime experience.

I will just need to put on another turtle neck and throw a log on the fire and just chill.  Our Hospitality folks are doing just fine, although Mother Nature has heaved a few timbers on their businesses.  We are resolute, however.  The Caribbean is still gleaming, Florida hums with activity, our ski resorts have plenty of powder, the price of gasoline is not breaking the bank – Hospitality is open for business – no shoulder season or even cold shoulder here.  We continue to make the memories.   It’s good!  Excuse me, while I go find my shovel under yonder snow pile.
