Steigenberger to Develop 160 Room InterCityHotel in Duisburg

The first InterCityHotel in the Ruhr metropolis of Duisburg will be located within the immediate vicinity of the city's main railway station. The InterCity-Hotel Duisburg will house 160 latest generation rooms as well as including a BistroLounge and a generously proportioned conference area and aims to attract business travellers and tourists alike. The 275 m2 conference area will extend across 4 interconnectable rooms on the top storey of the hotel, where an adjacent terrace will also be available for the use of conference guests. Building works are scheduled to commence in mid-2013, the plan being for the InterCityHotel Duisburg to open its doors at the end of 2014.

The hotel has been designed by the Braunschweig-based architectural firm Büro Reichel+Stauth. The developer is Hotelprojekt Mercatorstraße Duisburg GmbH from Düsseldorf, a joint venture between Feuring – Visionary Hotel Development, Mainz, and Cap Rate GmbH, Düsseldorf. The new InterCityHotel Duisburg will be operated by the Steigenberger Hotels AG subsidiary InterCityHotel GmbH, the headquarters of which are in Frankfurt.
