2003 IH/M&RS To Provide Extensive Culinary Resources

  • IH/MRS WHITE PLAINS, NY, August 14, 2003...Restaurant and Flavors, two of the five markets at the 88th annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS), will provide culinary professionals with new products, equipment and educational know-how to keep up with the latest trends, November 8 – 11, 2003, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

    “The Restaurant and Flavors markets at the IH/M&RS will offer the tools culinary professionals need to take their businesses to the next level,” said Christian Falkenberg, show manager. “Coupled with the ‘Restaurant Futurists’ conference and the Culinary Resource Center, these focused divisions offer a comprehensive marketing and networking environment.”

    Exhibits
    Some 1,000 companies will be exhibiting in the Show’s Restaurant and Flavors markets. The Restaurant division features products for both the front and back-of-the-house, including food service equipment and supplies; restaurant furnishings and design; table linens; tableware; uniforms and menus and restaurant consulting. Key exhibitors include: Enodis, Frette, Hobart, MTS Seating, Oneida and Sharp. The Flavors market is devoted to food and beverage and will offer appetizers; baked goods; beer and ale; coffee, tea, espresso, cappuccino; dairy products; deli products; desserts; frozen foods; fruits and vegetables; gourmet foods; meat/poultry and fish; non-alcoholic beverages; pasta; prepared foods; and wine and liquor. Key exhibitors in the Flavors market include: DeBragga & Spitler, J.M. Smucker, Moka D’oro, Paris Gourmet, Sea Breeze and Tom Cat Bakery.     “Restaurant Futurists”
    The third annual “Restaurant Futurists” program, themed “Change in Fast Forward (and a Bit of Reverse)” will present a total of fourteen seminars. The roster will include a keynote session led by Tony May, owner, San Domenico (New York, NY), titled “Change in Fast Speed”. Other notable programs include “The New Tourists and How to Capture Them,” presented by Cristyne Nicholas of NYC & Company, and a “Special Presentation by Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRoNA): How Great Restaurants Keep Their Edge in Challenging Times.”

    Culinary Resource Center
    The IH/M&RS Culinary Resource Center provides unmatched opportunities for chefs, restaurateurs, and other foodservice professionals. Highlights include the 8th annual IH/M&RS Chefs’ Championships competition, with participants from across the country competing for cash prizes and American Culinary Federation (ACF) certification points; the DiRoNA Chef’s Showcase; the 135th Annual Salon of Culinary Art, presented by the Societe Culinaire Philanthropique, featuring intricately sculptured and artistically prepared foods, designed by culinarians for prizes; and the Demonstration Kitchen, hosted by Food Arts magazine and presented in conjunction with the Salon of Culinary Art, offering daily live demonstrations by top chefs, with tastings offered at the end of each demonstration.     The 88th annual IH/M&RS will be held November 8-11, 2003, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The IH/M&RS presents approximately 1,800 exhibitors in five distinct markets: Décor, Technology, Restaurant, Flavors and Essentials. The Show draws 55,000 domestic and international hospitality professionals representing chain, franchise, resort, casino, independent and senior care properties, consultants, architects, designers, purchasing, management companies, restaurants, clubs, fast food, airline and cruise ships, bars, caterers, corporate dining, hospitals, schools, industry distributors, wholesalers and designers.

    Show hours are 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., from Saturday, November 8, through Monday, November 10; and 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 11.
