  • Accor New look website adds first Chinese language booking engine in Asia

BANGKOK, 2 September, 2003 — Accor relaunched its website on 25 August to make it the most user-friendly in Asia’s hotel industry, offering travellers access to the best on-line ‘Hot Deal’ rates available over a 60 day period at some 90 hotels around the region.

Modelled on Accor Australia’s pioneering website, www.accorhotels.com/asia, now features the best on-line ‘Hot Deal’ with a Chinese language booking engine, the first in Asia. Through the site, travellers will be able to compare on-line rates at a range of Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, Ibis and Century hotels around Asia.

Each hotel lists the best rate available on-line for each and every day (unless sold out) over a two month (60 day) period. The rates vary according to demand in a specific hotel or day, but the transparency allows travellers to organise their hotels stays when the best rates are available.

Commenting on the launch of the new website, Accor Managing Director Asia Pacific, Mr Michael Issenberg, said it puts Accor on the cutting edge of hotel sales and distribution in the Asia region.

”The website is the most consumer-friendly and price-transparent in Asia’s hotel industry, dedicated to selling Accor’s entire Asian network in 12 countries around the region.

“By adding a Chinese language booking function Accor is indeed leading a distribution revolution in Asia. We are the only international hotel management group that offers such a comprehensive distribution package focused on the Chinese-language leisure and corporate travel markets.

“Now available in Chinese and English, the website will soon add Japanese, Korean, Thai and Bahasa Indonesian to the booking engine in the coming months.”

From January to July 2003 the accorhotels.com/asia website averaged over 90,000 visitors per month. Through the site, travellers can also access the best on-line deals in the rest of the Accor global network, which totals over 4,000 hotels in 90 counties.

Early this month Accor Jin Jiang Distribution Co Ltd also launched the first ever Chinese language booking engine on its new website, www.accor-jinjiang-hotels.com, targeting consumers in China’s massive domestic travel market.

A recent survey taken the end of June estimated that China currently has 68 million Internet users, up by 15 per cent or almost nine million users during the first six months of 2003. Nearly 66 per cent surf the Internet at home, with almost 10 million users enjoying high-speed cable or DSL connections.*
