One in ten London hotel rooms is already filled for Valentine’s Day 2014 (11.2 per cent), an increase in bookings at this point in the booking window of 60 per cent year over year.
Love is already in the air as many of are looking beyond Christmas and booking that ideal Valentine’s Day break. Using its forward-looking data, TravelClick, the leading hotel market intelligence provider, shares the European travel trends for Valentine’s getaways.
Hotel bookings in the UK capital for Valentine’s weekend as a whole are up 29.1 per cent for 2014 with the average daily rate (ADR) down 14.8 per cent for the night of Valentine’s Day itself.
Looking further afield, the cold weather is not stopping couples from heading to Berlin for a romantic break. More than one in three hotel rooms in the German capital are filled for the night of Valentine’s Day (37.8 per cent), that’s a rise in bookings of almost 50 per cent (49 per cent).
Spanish hoteliers are also seeing a boom for next year’s celebration of love with strong bookings and increased ADR. Committed occupancy for Valentine’s night in Barcelona is up 19.6 per cent at this point in the booking window year over year earlier while the average daily rate is showing a rise of 23.2 per cent.
Other popular romantic European destinations are Venice and Prague where bookings for Valentine’s night are up by 48.6 per cent and 27.5 per cent year over year respectively.
