Asia Pacific Hotel Development Pipeline For December 2013 Rises to 2,022 Hotels

Among the Chain Scale segments, the Upscale segment accounted for the largest portion of rooms in the total active pipeline (26.8 percent with 117,275 rooms).

STR Global The Asia Pacific hotel development pipeline comprises 2,022 hotels totalling 438,034 rooms, according to the December 2013 STR Global Construction Pipeline Report. The total active pipeline data includes projects in the In Construction, Final Planning and Planning stages but does not include projects in the Pre-Planning stage. 

Among the Chain Scale segments, the Upscale segment accounted for the largest portion of rooms in the total active pipeline (26.8 percent with 117,275 rooms). Three other segments each made up more than 15 percent of rooms in the total active pipeline: the Upper Upscale segment (23.1 percent with 101,288 rooms); the Unaffiliated segment (17.9 percent with 78,386 rooms); and the Luxury segment (15.6 percent with 68,484 rooms). 

The Upper Upscale segment accounted for the most rooms under construction in the region (27.1 percent with 67,219 rooms), followed by the Upscale segment (25.9 percent with 64,296 rooms).
