Pineapple Hospitality Company, a hotel management company headquartered in Bellevue, Wash., announced their entrance into the San Francisco hotel market.
Pineapple Hospitality Company announced their purchase of The Hotel California in San Francisco, effective April 11, 2014. The 101-year-old hotel will remain open during the transition.
The Hotel California is Pineapple Hospitality's first property in California. They have four hotels in Seattle and one in Portland, Ore. "We chose San Francisco because it complements our core brand locations," said President Michelle Foreman Barnet. "All three cities are strong feeder markets for the others. Plus, it's an amazing city! We are so pleased that Pineapple has found a terrific home there."
A large renovation and redesign is being planned for next year. For now, guests of The Hotel California can enjoy the same Pineapple Hospitality service and amenities as their other hotels, including complimentary wireless internet and bike check-outs, dog-friendly accommodations and a daily cupcake and coffee reception.
"This hotel was our first choice," stated Barnet. "The location on the corner of Geary and Jones is superb." The seven-story, 83 room property was built in 1913. It is located in the heart of San Francisco's theater district, is three blocks from Union Square and houses the award-winning vegetarian restaurant Millennium.
