Cover page from the 2014 Hotel Cost Estimating GuideNow in its sixth year, the 2014 Hotel Cost Estimating Guide evaluates costs in a variety of hotel tiers including Economy, Extended Stay, Midscale, Upscale, Upper Upscale, and Luxury. Within each tier, costs are separated into the categories of Guestrooms; Guest Bathrooms; Guestroom Corridors; Public Areas; Food & Beverage Outlets; Function Space; Recreational Facilities; and Infrastructure. Furthermore, as a first for this Guide the 2014 edition features estimated percentages for freight and warehousing for each tier.

In compiling this year’s data, the following trends were noted:

  • RFID locks are becoming an industry standard.
  • Higher percentage of full renovations of public spaces due to changing brand initiatives.
"It is invaluable to have updated renovation costs each year to provide the industry with realistic, history-based information,” says Jonathan C. Nehmer, President of Jonathan Nehmer + Associates and HVS Design. “Our extensive experience in hotel renovations gives us a thorough understanding of the renovation budgeting process. We work with the industry’s leading contractors, purchasing agents, installers, and manufacturers to compile the cost data that we have included in this Guide”, he explains. In addition to providing Architecture, Interior Design, and Project Management services, JN+A is a leader in due diligence and Property Condition Assessments, for which budgets and capital expenditure planning are of utmost importance.
