Finalists Announced For 2002 Annual Gold Key Awards

    WHITE PLAINS, NY, July 31, 2002¡K Twenty design firms, representing an international selection of lodging and restaurant properties, have been named finalists for the 22nd Annual Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design. Recognizing excellence in seven design categories, the Gold Key Finalists were chosen from 180 entries.

    ¡§This year¡¦s finalists represent an international selection of the best in hotel and restaurant design, signifying the importance of the Gold Key Awards in the hospitality design community,¡¨ said Christian Falkenberg, show manager.
    Judges for the 2002 Gold Key Awards were Raymond Bickson of The Mark, Wing Chao of Walt Disney Imagineering, Suzanne Couture of Ian Schrager Hotels, Stephen Hanson of BR Guest, Inc., and Colum McCartan of MCCARTAN. Judges considered design creativity, aesthetic value and commercial viability when making their selections.
    Grand Prize winners, in each of the competition¡¦s seven categories, as well as a ¡§Best of Show¡¨ Award, will be announced at the Gold Key Awards Breakfast, Monday, November 11, 7:30 ¡V 10:00 a.m., at New York City¡¦s Waldorf=Astoria. Tickets for the Gold Key Awards Breakfast are $75 each, with a portion of the proceeds donated to Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH) Scholarship Fund.     The Gold Key Awards are presented by the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show„¥ (IH/M&RS) and sponsored by Hospitality Design and Hotel & Motel Management magazines. The Gold Key Gallery at the IH/M&RS, which presents all finalists¡¦ projects, is sponsored by the NEWH and is located in the Hospitality Showcase on Level One of the Javits Center.
    The 87th annual IH/M&RS is sponsored by the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association, the Hotel Association of New York City, and the American Hotel & Lodging Association and is managed by George Little Management, LLC (GLM„¥). The 87th annual IH/M&RS will be held Saturday, November 9, through Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at New York City¡¦s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The Show will feature more than 1,750 hospitality industry suppliers and will attract approximately 45,000 in total trade attendance.
