USA Technology Inc. Wins Kenneth F. Hine Award for "Best of Show"
NEW YORK, NY The Eighth Annual Editors’ Choice Awards for Best New Products were presented to five winners, along with the Kenneth F. Hine Award for “Best of Show,” during the Opening Ceremony of the 88th annual International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS) on November 8, 2003, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
“Each year, the Editors’ Choice Awards gives exhibitors the opportunity to preview new products to the hospitality industry,” said Christian Falkenberg, show manager. “These awards provide insight on trends represented throughout the market.”
Winners of the 2003 Editors’ Choice Awards:
* Decor – Formglas (Toronto, Canada) for its “Whistler” Electric Fireplace, a wall-hanging electric fireplace.
* Flavors – Chris’s Cookies (Carlstadt, NJ) for its Noir Brownie, an ultra-rich fudge brownie baked with bittersweet chocolate and black cocoa.
* Restaurant – Ambassador Uniform Group (Morganville, NJ) for its Robur Culinary Apparel, a line of European culinary apparel.
* Technology – USA Technologies, Inc. (Malvern, PA) for its Business Express Safe Saver, an innovative solution to the hotel business center.
* Essentials – Idea Factory, Inc. (Menomonee Falls, WI) for its Rinse Ace 2-in-1 Showerhead & Power Spray, a shower head with forty spray jets and a detachable six foot hose.
A panel of 12 industry editors reviewed 170 entries and selected winners in five categories: Décor, Flavors, Restaurant, Technology and Essentials. The “Best of Show” was chosen from among the five winners, and presented to USA Technologies, Inc. for its submission in the Technology category for the Business Express Space Saver.
All IH/M&RS exhibitors were invited to submit their most innovative products or services for consideration. Judging criteria included innovative product design or construction, an answer to an industry need, and development or use of a new technology.
