  • Kempinski Group to manage luxury hotel and wellness centre on island of Sicily.

In Spring 2004, Kempinski Hotels & Resorts will open the Kempinski Giardino di Costanza Grand Hotel & Spa in Mazara del Valla, on the island of Sicily. This is Kempinski’s first hotel in Italy. The management contract was signed by Reto Wittwer, President and CEO of Kempinski and Giovanni Savalle, Chief Executive of Mediterranea Spa, a Sicilian public company.

The hotel is connected to the 19th Century Villa Fontanasalsa, a congress centre, which can host up to 260 people, with a further function hall for banqueting for up to 450 people. The Spa Centre will become one of the leading and most unique centres in Europe, comprising of 2100 m². The Enoteca, a wine cellar, will have one of the finest selections of Mediterranean wines in the area, which will complement the most outstanding restaurant concepts.

‘The Italian market’, says Wittwer, ‘is characterised by culture and style. For this reason Kempinski Hotels and Resorts, a company which, since its conception over 105 years ago, has been inextricably linked to culture, individuality, identity, comfort and quality, has chosen the Grand Hotel Giardino di Costanza. This is an hotel which is poised to become one of the leading properties in Italy, though it’s style and grandeur.’ Savalle responds, ‘It is really a wonderful hotel, unique in Italy, and we thank Kempinski for choosing to manage our special jewel.’

Wittwer also states “after the opening of our first hotel in Italy, it will be time for the biggest and most luxurious hotel ever built in the world”. He refers to the Bani Yas Palace in Abu Dhabi, UAE, which will open to host the GCC summit in late 2004. Set on a 1.3 km private beach, the Palace will offer sixteen restaurants, 390 rooms, the region’s largest conference centre and two spas.

The Kempinski Giardino di Costanza Grand Hotel & Spa will be part of Kempinski’s prestigious collection, which comprises luxurious properties in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America and Asia. Each offers superior standards of service combined with a distinctive style reflecting the individuality of the property and its location. The collection includes historic grande dames such as the Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin, the Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg and the Ciragan Palace in Istanbul as well as new landmarks such as the Kempinski Julai’a Hotel & Resort in Kuwait and the Colony Park Plaza in Uruguay.

Logos, product and company names mentioned are the property of their respective owners.
