Abercrombie & Kent Extends Brand With New Name for Destination Club Product |
|
New Name Creates Master Brand and Allows for More Product Offerings in Future |
Due to the popularity of its first destination club, Private Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent, Abercrombie & Kent announces the launch of its destination club product's master brand -- Abercrombie & Kent Destination Clubs. With Abercrombie & Kent's more than 40-year reputation of luxury travel and endless attention to detail, the brand expansion allows for several club offerings to be identified under one name and future product diversification under that same name.
"Our new name creates a distinct presence in this growing industry evolving from the private club, travel and fractional ownership sectors," says A&K Destination Clubs' CEO Rob McGrath. "With the positive response to our first club, Private Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent, and the initiation of our second club, Distinctive Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent, Abercrombie & Kent Destination Clubs looks to further strengthen its leading position and continue to provide exceptional service to our Members."
The first two clubs will continue to operate under the Abercrombie & Kent Destination Clubs banner. For Private Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent, which began in 1998, membership starts at $250,000 and for Distinctive Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent, which began in late 2003, membership starts at $445,000. Along with the fully refundable membership fee, annual club dues for each club are $8,750 and $12,750, respectively. In 2003, Membership sales were approximately $60 million, a 362 percent increase from 2002.
Unlike previous resort real estate club models that pose resale, location and access challenges that result in member dissatisfaction, Abercrombie & Kent Destination Clubs essentially provide members with a guaranteed second home in multiple locations. The Clubs allow members to travel to all Club locations around the world and access all Club properties as they desire. Membership also offers additional lifestyle and travel benefits such as retreat coordinators and hosts, concierges, private jets, recreational affiliations (e.g. ski, golf, spa), and worldwide Abercrombie & Kent tours and safaris.
"Abercrombie & Kent Destination Clubs will continue to surmount the challenges of other industries, as it did with its destination club concept and Proprietary Capacity Model, with more offerings that better match consumer expectations and needs, and guarantee a Member's accommodation request 365 days a year," adds McGrath.
Headquartered in Southport, Conn., Abercrombie & Kent Destination Clubs are the world's first and foremost premiere destination clubs, offering Members unlimited use of a collection of residences, resort suites, yachts, private aircraft, A&K tours and safaris, experiences & services in more than 60 locations on all seven continents. The Clubs' Proprietary Capacity Model, which includes a broad geographic dispersion and limited number of Members, virtually assures Members can travel when and where they wish. The benefits continue with complete location flexibility, unrestricted and equal access to every location and very low member-to-residence ratio.
For more than 40 years, Abercrombie & Kent has been internationally recognized as the first name in luxury adventure travel. The company has built its award-winning reputation by being the first to bring unexpected comforts and amenities to remote destinations worldwide and providing privileged access to people and experiences in Africa & Egypt, Orient & Australasia, Europe, South America & the Galapagos and North America. Travel with Abercrombie & Kent combines the convenience, service and security of a U.S.-based company with support 24/7 from a network of 45 on-site offices in destinations worldwide.
