Hotels in both the Middle East and Africa reported all-time lows in occupancy and revenue per available room (RevPAR), according to year-end 2020 data from STR.
Hotels in the Middle East saw occupancy fall 34.4% to 46.9% in November as ADR declined 24.9% to $107.98 and RevPAR decreased 50.7% to $50.63. Africa's hotels reported occupancy decreased 58.7% to $27.8%, ADR fell 13.3% to $92.40 and RevPAR dropped 64.2% to $25.73.
Hotels in the Middle East saw occupancy decline 33.8% year over year to 44.2% in October as ADR dipped 23.2% to $108.47 and RevPAR decreased 49.2% to $47.96. In Africa, hotel occupancy fell 56.3% to 28.6%, ADR dipped 3.5% to $101.71 and RevPAR dropped 57.8% to $29.08 for the month.
In the Middle East, hotel occupancy fell 30.8% to 43.3% in September as ADR dipped 13.5% to $98.54 and RevPAR declined 40.1% to $42.64. In Africa, hotel occupancy decreased 61.2% to 25.6%, ADR rose 2.7% to $99.99 and RevPAR fell 60.2% to $25.57.
In August, hotels in the Middle East saw occupancy decrease 32.5% to 42.6%, ADR fall 26.3% to $115.46 and RevPAR decline 50.3% to $49.23. In Africa, hotel occupancy decreased 60.5% to 25%, ADR dipped 11.8% to $95.75 and RevPAR dropped 65.1% to $23.91.
Middle East hotel occupancy fell 41.8% to 35.3% in July as ADR dipped 9.6% to $106.93 and RevPAR dropped 47.4% to $37.70. Africa's hotels saw occupancy fall 72.9% to 16.9%, ADR decline 10.8% to $93.98 and RePAR drop 75.8% to $15.91.
Hotels in the Middle East reported occupancy fell 42.9% to 33.6% in June as ADR declined 24.9% to $97.31 and RevPAR dropped 57.1% to $32.72. In Africa, hotel occupancy decreased 76.8% to 13.8%, ADR dipped 27.1% to $74.13 and RevPAR dropped 83.1% to $10.23.
Hotels in the Middle East reported occupancy decreased 31% to 36% in May as ADR fell 45.6% to $87.84 and RevPAR dropped 62.5% to $31.59. In Africa, hotel occupancy declined 72.1% to 14.2%, ADR fell 26.6% to $70.09 and RevPAR decreased 79.5% to $9.97.
In April, Middle East hotel occupancy fell 58% to 31.2%, ADR dropped 35.1% to $95.54 and RevPAR decreased 72.7% to $29.82. Africa's hotels reported occupancy fell 79.8% to 12.5%, ADR declined 31.1% to $77.85 and RevPAR decreased 86.1% to $9.75.
Hotels in the Middle East reported occupancy fell 51.5% to 35.6% in March as ADR dipped 19.3% to $114.88 and RevPAR dropped 60.8% to $40.86. Africa's hotels saw occupancy similarly decrease 51.6% to 31.1%, ADR decline 6.4% to $102.09 and RevPAR decrease 54.7% to $31.72.
