SO/ announces the opening of two new properties: SO/ Auckland (New Zealand) in November 2018 and SO/ Havana Paseo del Prado (Cuba) in early 2020.
Located right in the heart of the city, SO/ Auckland will occupy the site of the former Reserve Bank which once housed the country's gold reserves. The hotel's designer, Benny Castles of WORLD, has left nothing to chance: from the wallpaper patterns to the staff uniforms, the entire design reflects Auckland's volcanic history and New Zealand's natural beauty, as well as the history of the building.
The creative layout of the hotel lobby was conceived by Dutch design house Moooi and inspired by founder and renowned designer Marcel Wanders. The hotel features 130 rooms as well as a Club Signature lounge, a SO/ SPA, a SO/ FIT fitness center and an indoor swimming pool. The Harbour Society restaurant will be located on the 15th floor and will be run by the French Michelin starred Chef Marc de Passorio.
The SO/Havana Paseo del Prado will be located in the iconic Paseo de Marti district. From its emblem to the staff uniforms, the hotel will bear the signature of the renowned fashion designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. It will feature 250 rooms, including 36 suites, all laid out with stylish contemporary furnishings along with state-of-the-art technology.
The hotel will offer five food and beverage outlets for guests to enjoy, including a specialty restaurant, a rooftop bar on the 9th floor, a café bar, a lounge bar and an all-day restaurant. Additional hotel features include 3 meeting rooms, a SO/ SPA with 6 treatment rooms, a SO/ FIT fitness center and a swimming pool.
These new locations will be joining the brand's portfolio which already includes legendary hotels such as SO/Bangkok, SO/Singapore and more recent additions SO/Berlin Das Stue and SO/Vienna. With the opening of more than 10 new properties scheduled between now and 2021, each SO/ hotel will be an irresistible statement of the style, sophistication and local energy of these destinations, which will include Kuala Lumpur (2020), Samui (2020), Jakarta (2021), to name just a few.
