Radisson Blu announced a new hotel opening: the Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, Andermatt in Switzerland. Facing the Swiss Alps, the 224-room hotel is part of an extensive transformation that seeks to build on Andermatt's growing status as a year-round destination for visitors.
Yilmaz Yildirimlar, Area Senior Vice President of the Area Central & Southern Europe region for Radisson Hotel Group, said: "We're delighted to open this iconic landmark in the charming mountain village of Andermatt after an extensive construction period. We're also proud to be a part of the overall development of this new year-round destination that provides guests with unique nature experiences, sporting activities and a first-class range of culinary delights. We see Andermatt as a promising and powerful driving factor for tourism in the region, as well as for the MICE sector."
Situated halfway between Zurich and Milan (and just 30 minutes away from Lucerne), the Swiss village of Andermatt lies at an elevation of 1,444 meters and is easily accessible by car or train. With just 1,500 inhabitants, it has the enchanting atmosphere of a romantic little mountain village, offering everything travelers need for an unforgettable stay. Among the apartment buildings, hotels and chalets, there's even an 18-hole Scotland-inspired golf course and a Ski Arena.
The Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, Andermatt welcomes guests to stay in one of 179 spacious rooms or 45 suites and apartments, designed in the style typical of Swiss chalets. Inside the hotel, generous use of natural materials elevates the feel-good factor and creates a warm ambiance, while the guest rooms, suites and apartments feature free high-speed internet, LED televisions and 24-hour room service. The open lobby lounge with a bar and fireplace is the ideal space for relaxing after a busy day. Guests eating at the Spun restaurant can enjoy market-fresh local and Italian-inspired creations. The modern health and wellness area pampers visitors with a 25-meter pool featuring a panorama view, a sauna and steam bath – as well as customized treatments.
The hotel also offers excellent infrastructure for business and private events. In addition to six individualized and well-equipped modern meeting rooms and boardrooms, there's a large, multifunctional concert hall (opening in spring 2019), with seating for up to 700 guests. Whether it's a conference, private get-together or lavish wedding ceremony, our experienced hotel team make every event a truly memorable experience.
Andreas Meier, General Manager of Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, Andermatt said: "We're honored to open the first Radisson Blu hotel in the heart of the Swiss Alps and the highest Radisson Blu property above sea level in the world.
