Mr. Oberoi said, 'I take pride at the positive attention that India is receiving in the international media. A few years ago all that one read or heard were poverty and disaster stories. Today, the image is positive. This speaks volumes for what is possible in a short space of time if the country adopts the right policies. However, we need to do much more. The Government has, in the recent past, taken steps that are to be applauded. The most visible of these is the aviation policy. Increased international connectivity, privatisation of the New Delhi and Mumbai airports and the two new private airports in Hyderabad and Bangalore are welcome steps in a rapidly growing economy.'
Mr. Oberoi further stated, 'The hospitality industry is witnessing unprecedented growth. The increase in revenues and profitability of the Company bear witness to exciting times ahead. Our properties continue to win awards and accolades from around the world. There is a deep sense of satisfaction for me and for all those who work for The Oberoi Group that we serve travellers who appreciate the quality of comfort and service we provide; this encourages us to raise the bar to even higher levels.'
In conclusion, Mr. Oberoi stated that Travel + Leisure, which is a leading international travel magazine, has announced that two Oberoi Hotels have been ranked amongst the first ten best hotels in the world in a Readers' Poll conducted by the publication. The Oberoi Udaivilâs, Udaipur and The Oberoi Rajvilâs, Jaipur have been ranked as the third best and the sixth best in the world, respectively. This is, indeed, good news and all The Oberoi Group employees are proud of this achievement.
