More Than 170 Fairfield Inn General Managers Roll Up Their Sleeves to Help Build New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity Homes

More than 170 Fairfield Inn and Fairfield Inn & Suites general managers are gathering today in New Orleans to help the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity build 3 homes at 4809 Reynes Street in the New Orleans East portion of the city's 9th Ward.

Marriott The general managers, representing cities from across the nation, are in town attending an annual Marriott conference. The Fairfield Inn brand supports Habitat for Humanity with Hospitality at Home(R), a program combining cash, in-kind and volunteerism to benefit local affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International.

"We have a long history of giving back to the communities where we work and live,' said Shruti Buckley, brand vice president, Fairfield Inn and Fairfield Inn & Suites, Marriott International, Inc. 'We have over 170 volunteers coming from all over the United States and Canada to help deserving families in New Orleans.'

Fairfield Inn sponsors Habitat for Humanity house builds at special events and at major internal meetings such as owner, franchisee, and general manager conferences. In cooperation with local Habitat affiliates, these events may include the donation of new Fairfield guestroom furnishings to signify the brand's new program and commitment beyond the sponsorship of the build.

'With the Hospitality at Home program, we not only have the chance to help families achieve the dream of owning their own home, but we are also able to help them provide a better and safer environment for their children,' said Bruce Reed, vice president of franchising, Fairfield Inn and Fairfield Inn & Suites, Marriott International, Inc. 'Since we began our relationship with Habitat in 1995 with the grand opening of our 200th Fairfield Inn hotel, we have grown to more than 570 hotels and contributed numerous volunteer hours and financial support towards the completion of over 60 homes.'

In addition to home builds, participating Fairfield Inns donate items from hotel renovations to Habitat ReStores, retail stores that sell quality used and surplus building materials and furnishings to raise money for local Habitat builds. Through home sponsorships, volunteer service, and donation opportunities, the national Hospitality at Home program engages Fairfield Inn associates, owners, franchisees, and customers to help Habitat for Humanity continue its work in providing decent, affordable housing for families in need. The program aligns with Marriott International's focus on shelter and food as part of its five signature issues represented by the letters in 'SERVE' - Shelter and Food, Environment, Readiness for Hotel Careers, Vitality of Children, and Embracing Diversity and People with Disabilities.
