OpenTravel Alliance OpenTravel Alliance (OpenTravel), the travel industry’s leading distribution specification and standards development organization, will hold a seminar on personalization and semantic technologies in the travel industry as part of the EyeforTravel Travel Distribution Summit Europe.

Title, description and details:

Are We There Yet?  And Will You Know Us When We Get There? The Potential of Personalization and Semantic Technologies in Travel.

The application of semantic technology in the travel industry is in its infancy, but the industry is desperate to utilize this technology to figure out how to optimize searches and to provide personalized offers and service to travelers. The technology is also seen as the biggest opportunity to increase conversions, as trailblazers in personalization such as Amazon.com have shown. Travelers are also beginning to see the benefits of personalization and are demanding to see more of it.

However, travel companies tend to be burdened by legacy technology, industry dynamics that prevent the data quality required by personalization and by slim margins. What are the trends in semantic technologies, and how can the travel industry untangle the industry issues to start using these technologies today?

Speakers:
Valyn Perini, CEO, OpenTravel (moderator)
Alex Kremer, COO Flextrip
David O’Flanagan, CEO Boxever
Rachel Armitage, Product Director, Skyscanner
