Tishman Urban Development Corporation, an affiliate of the national real estate firm Tishman Realty & Construction Co., Inc., was also named as developer and construction manager of the hotel. Tishman will help manage the project, including programming, design, construction and start-up of the hotel.

"This hotel will complement the convention center experience and help promote strong convention center bookings."

The project will provide the new convention center with a much-needed headquarters property in one of the strongest markets in the country," said John T. Livingston, President of Tishman Urban Development Corporation. The 1,500-room hotel, scheduled to open in 2008, is expected to generate 1,300 jobs and more than $19 million in annual tax revenue for the District.

"The headquarters hotel will provide the vibrancy that this new urban center is destined to generate."
The selection of Vinoly/Nichols and Tishman was made in collaboration with land owner Gould Property Company and hotel operator Marriott International. The development and design team will immediately begin conceptual design to evaluate the opportunities and constraints of the site.
