Yoga instruction is made easy and accessible to guests through the Yoga Channel offered on in-room television sets free of charge. A complimentary basket filled with essential yoga equipment, including a yoga mat, block and strap is available to guests during their stay. To obtain the basket, guests can request in-room delivery via the hotel operator.
"Yoga is a popular trend and is practiced by many as a way to combine athleticism with spirituality," said Tom LaTour, Kimpton's chairman and CEO. "By offering in-room yoga, Kimpton recognizes the importance of helping guests to maintain various aspects of their lifestyle while on the road. Kimpton has become a leader in lifestyle accommodations."
Kimpton has partnered with Yoga Site Inc. for the "Strike a Pose" program. Yoga Site Inc. supplies the yoga mats, blocks and straps, plus the Yoga Now instructional CD available for purchase in the honor bar for guests who wish to take their yoga experience home. The yoga programming that plays continuously on Kimpton's Yoga Channel features The All Day Yoga Workout with yoga instructors Rodney Yee in "A.M. Yoga for Beginners," Suzanne Deason in "Stress Relief Yoga for Beginners" and Patricia Walden in "P.M. Yoga for Beginners." Kimpton is the only hotel collection with a Yoga Channel.
"We are partnering with Yoga Site because they are known for their focus on wellness," said Steve Pinetti, Kimpton's vice president of sales and marketing. "Whether on a business trip or enjoying a personal getaway, the "Strike A Pose" program is just one of the ways Kimpton provides guests with a sense of health and harmony while away from home."
Yoga Site (www.yogasite.com) is a popular yoga website offering free information on the practice of yoga, a teacher directory and yoga events calendar, plus yoga props and other products.
"Kimpton is always looking for ways to further our relationship with our guests," said Pinetti. "Our yoga program is yet another first - such as our goldfish program, special amenities for pets, complimentary wine hour and tall rooms."
