CommonWealth Hotels CommonWealth Lodging, formerly known as Afton Hospitality, has added five hotels to its management portfolio. 

The portfolio includes the following premium branded hotels in the Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) and Hilton Worldwide (NYSE: HLT) franchise systems: 

  • 170 room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Lake Buena Vista in Orlando, Florida
  • 139 room Fairfield Inn by Marriott Orlando Airport in Orlando, Florida
  • 130 room Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte - Gastonia in Gastonia, North Carolina
  • 208 room DoubleTree by Hilton North Druid Hills / Emory Area in Atlanta, Georgia
  • 111 room Hampton Inn by Hilton North Druid Hills in Atlanta, Georgia
CommonWealth Lodging will to manage the five hotels and will oversee a comprehensive, multi-million dollar renovation for the DoubleTree and Fairfield Inn Orlando Airport locations.  Both hotels will remain open and fully operational with renovations planned for completion in the fourth quarter of 2015.

In 2012, Afton Hospitality merged with Richmond based Commonwealth Commercial Partners, a vertically integrated, full service commercial real estate firm. In June of 2014 the company added the Richmond Marriott West, a 242-room full service hotel in the Innsbrook business park to its portfolio. 

With today’s announcement CommonWealth Lodging now manages nine hotels in four states with more than 1,300 rooms and 360 employees.  The company is an approved operator for the major hotel franchise companies, including Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR), Hilton Worldwide (NYSE: HLT), Choice Hotels (NYSE: CHH) and Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN).
