Stand Up To Cancer

ResortSuite and ISPA 2016 Team Up to Fight Cancer

ResortSuite, a global leader in guest-centric hospitality management software, is proud to sponsor the registration bags for the over 2500 expected attendees of the 2016 International SPA Association (ISPA) Conference and Expo, benefiting Stand Up To Cancer’s research efforts. The conference will be held September 13 – 15, 2016 at The Venetian hotel in Las Vegas.

“Throughout the years, the spa industry has been deeply impacted by the loss of fellow colleagues and friends, including several beloved spa industry leaders who lost their battle in 2016,” says ISPA President Lynne McNees. “In honor of all our ISPA family that have been touched by cancer, ISPA and ResortSuite have partnered with Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) to support collaborative cancer research programs.”

To date, more than $370 million has been pledged to support SU2C’s innovative model of collaborative cancer research. Since launching in 2008, Stand Up To Cancer has brought together more than 1,200 of the best and the brightest research scientists from 144 leading institutions in seven countries to fund 19 “Dream Teams,” and six translational research teams; as well as 36 early-career, innovative scientists carrying out high-risk, potentially high-reward projects. The research is aimed at ending cancer’s reign as a leading cause of death worldwide. SU2C-funded researchers have planned, launched or completed more than 160 clinical trials involving more than 9,000 patients. Work by SU2C-supported researchers has led to FDA approval of two treatments.

“As a platinum sponsor, ResortSuite is proud to partner with ISPA in spreading the word about Stand Up To Cancer’s great initiative,” says ResortSuite CEO Frank Pitsikalis. “We need to utilize our voice and knowledge as advocates of wellness to help in prevention and promote early detection. SU2C has such an amazing cause, and ISPA is the perfect platform to spread awareness and knowledge of their efforts.”

ResortSuite’s Founder and CEO Frank Pitsikalis not only serves as a Board Member of ISPA, he also now serves as the Chairman of the ISPA Foundation. The annual ISPA Conference and Expo is the premier gathering of spa and wellness professionals from around the world. ResortSuite has been so honored and pleased to partner with ISPA, and charitable organizations that ISPA members truly feel passionate about, through its conference bag platinum sponsorship over the past few years.

As SU2C’s scientific partner, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and a Scientific Advisory Committee led by Nobel Laureate Phillip A. Sharp, PhD, conduct rigorous, competitive review processes to identify the best research proposals to recommend for funding, oversee grants administration, and provide expert review of research progress.

Current members of the SU2C Council of Founders and Advisors (CFA) include Katie Couric, Sherry Lansing, Lisa Paulsen, Rusty Robertson, Sue Schwartz, Pamela Oas Williams, Ellen Ziffren, and Kathleen Lobb.
