7 New Years Resolutions Travel Marketers Should Adopt

The New Year isn’t just about making goals for personal growth. It’s about setting the groundwork to ensure that your business is set to reach new heights! Here are our top tips for making the most of 2017.

1. Start Now

Our Europe Travel Trends Report found that Germans are some of Europe’s earliest travel planners, with an average lead time of 80 days. That means that some of your customers are looking for their spring, and even summer travel, now. Don’t wait until April to engage with your customers, you may miss them!

2. Try Something New

From Facebook and YouTube, to dynamic creatives and native formats, there are more ways to engage with in-market travelers than ever before. If your regular display advertising campaigns are driving good results, consider allocating some budget towards learning about new products and how best to make them work for you.

3. Embrace Mobile

If your website isn’t optimised for mobile, your customers are likely to leave your site as soon as they arrive. Though most bookings occur on a laptop, research on mobile is rising at impressive rates. If you want to get (and stay!) on the radar of in-market travelers, make sure that your website experience is tailored to their device.

4. Get Social

Social media can be an incredible tool to showcase your brand, as well as engage and interact with potential and existing customers. And with 76% of travelers posting vacation photos to their social networks, it’s essentially free advertising.

Need help getting your social media presence on track? We’ve got loads of tips to help you on your way.

5. Get Your Attribution Sorted

A last click attribution model no longer cuts the mustard. A more nuanced attribution modeling will help you pinpoint which marketing channels are most effective for your brand and campaign goals.

Dedicate the time and resources to refining your attribution model in 2017 — you’ll be able to spend your marketing budgets more effectively.

6. Let the Data be Your Guide

Deeper insights will allow you to make smarter marketing decisions. For example, when we looked at the top five rising destinations in H1 2016, we found that bookings to these cities peaks on Tuesdays, shortly after searches do. This type of insight should influence how you engage with potential customers.
