But the hotel company has yet to confirm the project exists
A rendering for the semi-mythical Bowery outpost of the Ace Hotel has surfaced in the wild. Bowery Boogie spotted the image—courtesy of HAKS, the architecture firm on the project—on the Department of Buildings info board attached to the plywood at the mysterious/not-mysterious construction site.
One may recall that the project, which replaces an old Salvation Army at 225 Bowery, ran into some early construction problems. Those were mostly owing to how the new building, with its four-story addition, might threaten the “character” of Freeman Alley, which runs behind the site.
