The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International’s Washington, D.C., chapter will host an interactive roundtable session on group market activity, trends and strategies for hospitality sales, marketing and revenue management professionals, Oct. 26 at the Hyatt Centric Arlington in Virginia.
The session, part of the chapter’s new Wisdom & Wine series, will present a detailed analysis of group meeting activity seen in the Washington market during the first three quarters of 2017 and compare those results with the same periods in 2016. After findings are presented, participants will consider how those trends apply to their businesses and leave with actionable plans.
The event will feature Jim VanDevender, chief marketing officer for Knowland, a provider of group data technology designed to help hotels, convention and visitors’ bureaus and other venues drive revenue with meetings market intelligence. An award-winning hotel industry sales veteran considered an expert in the group market, he has over 17,000 followers on LinkedIn who read his weekly blog and industry updates. He previously worked for Hilton, Hyatt, Le Meridien and ConferenceDirect.
The Wisdom & Wine event will be hosted by Hyatt Centric Arlington, 1325 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Virginia, located across from the Metro Rosslyn Station. Registration and networking will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a presentation from 4:30 to 7 p.m. There is a $30 charge for HSMAI members, $60 fee for nonmembers and $15 fee for full-time students.
