Accor congratulates Novotel on its 50th hotel opening in Greater China, with its newest destination, Novotel Xi'an Aden, located across from the Xi'an Olympic Sports Centre, in the Xi'an International Trade & Logistics Park. As part of the China Merchants Silk Road Centre project, Novotel Xi'an Aden will attract both business and leisure travelers, with excellent facilities for conferences and events. The hotel is the fifth Novotel in Xi'an, with more than 20 Novotel hotels in the Yangtze River Delta region. Accor currently has over 50 additional Novotel hotels in development across Greater China, which will effectively double the brand's presence in the country by 2030.

"Novotel is one of Accor's foundational brands – the best known and most trusted midscale hospitality brand in the world – and it has been one of the favorite international hotel brands in China for almost 40 years," said Gary Rosen, CEO, Accor Greater China. "The brand has a unique ability to stay relevant, fresh, and evolve with the changing needs of travelers. We've experienced a surge of momentum in developing Novotel properties over the past several years, leading us to this celebration of our 50th Novotel opening in Greater China, while laying plans to open over 50 more within the next few years."

The origins of Novotel date back to 1967, when Accor opened its first hotel in France with a vision to create a European version of the popular American motel concept. In 1984, Accor opened its first hotel in China – a Novotel in the vibrant city of Beijing. Since then, the brand has established many important flagship hotels throughout the country, such as Novotel Shanghai Qingpu Excellence; Novotel Shanghai Hongqiao; Novotel Suzhou SIP; Novotel Citygate Hong Kong; and Novotel Hong Kong Century.

Novotel's history of innovation and modernist ethos continues to this day. The brand has expanded to include Novotel Suites, Novotel Resorts, and most recently, Novotel Living. The relaxed, apartment-style co-living comforts of Novotel Living are designed for a new era of travel that involves longer stays and well-balanced 'workations', with features such as social hubs and communal kitchens for an at-home hospitality experience. Novotel Living Chengdu Tianfu will open in late 2023 and Novotel Living Kunming Yunjin will follow in 2025.

Design has become integral to Novotel's positioning in recent years, and new hotels and hotel refurbishments in China are now being styled with globally-sourced, sustainable design concepts that blend business with pleasure, contribute to a sense of well-being, and use space efficiently. The flexible design templates provide the added benefit of customization in the Chinese market, allowing hotel owners to tailor their design choices to best suit the unique character and ecological sensitivities of each destination.

Similarly, Novotel's guest experience has rolled with the times, creating innovative and eco-conscious guest experiences at its hotels across China, such as reducing single-use plastics and installing biodegradable containers for bathroom amenities. Hotel teams are sporting stylish new wardrobe accessories made from recycled plastics, designed by the Fashion College at the Uniform Research Centre of Donghua University, with sustainable materials supplied by Goodcycle Environmental Technologies.

Novotel Xi'an Aden is designed by YANG & Associates Group, based on a Novotel design concept that encourages guests to achieve balance during their stay, with added inspiration from the willow trees that grow in abundance in Shaanxi province. The city's mountains and rivers also feature in the décor, creating a spatial experience of endless scenery and endless joy – ideal for restful breaks or contemplative moments in keeping with the hotel's philosophy of "time well spent".

The hotel's 230 guestrooms are equipped with Novotel's exclusive "Live N Dream" bedding experience; and guests will discover an all-day dining restaurant and chic lobby lounge. The much-anticipated Linglong Chinese Restaurant will honor the classics of Cantonese and Shaanxi cuisine with local ingredients and skilled techniques.

Located in the heart of the Olympic sports sector, with easy access to Metro, airport and railway, the meeting facilities of Novotel Xi'an Aden will be world-class, featuring 2000 sqm of flexible meeting and banquet space, including a pillarless ballroom and five multi-purpose conference rooms. The MEETING BY NOVOTEL program will help meeting planners to organize seminars and business meetings with a focus on sustainability, easy set-ups, bonding time, and rest and relaxation for guests.

Over the past two years, Novotel has opened several key hotels in China, such as Novotel Guangzhou Baiyun Airport; Novotel Nantong Development Zone; and Novotel Linfen Mount Yun. Upcoming hotels include Novotel Yancheng Exhibition Center and Novotel Nantong Center.
