David A. Thompson has been named vice president and controller of Hilton Hotels Corporation, according to Robert M. La Forgia, senior vice president and chief financial officer for the company.

He will be responsible for the company's corporate accounting and financial reporting functions.

"Dave's knowledge of the ever-changing and challenging world of accounting and financial reporting make him the logical choice for this key position. I look forward to continuing to work with Dave in his expanded role in the company," said La Forgia.

Thompson joined Hilton in 1995 as assistant corporate controller with responsibility for the company's external reporting and was promoted in 1998 to vice president and assistant controller. Prior to joining Hilton, he was manager in the hospitality industry practice at Arthur Andersen & Co, where he began his career in 1987.

Thompson earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Southern California and is a certificate public accountant in the State of California.
